Privacy Policy: Escape From Darkon

Last updated: 13.10.2026

Short version: Escape From Darkon has no accounts, no analytics and no server of its own, and your progress stays on your device. If you choose to watch the optional videos at the mailbox, Google's advertising service (AdMob) processes data about your device to show and measure them; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time. Moon Pearl purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.

This policy covers the game "Escape From Darkon" for iPhone, iPad and Android, made by Leonhard Schweiger ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the game's data processing (contact at the end).

What the game keeps on your device

The game saves your progress, your adventurer (look and name), your items, your settings and how many mailbox gifts you claimed today in a file inside the game's own storage on your device. Your Moon Pearls, the looks you own (pets, species, footprints, exit flairs) and the purchases already delivered are kept in a second file there, so "New Game" does not take them away. We never receive these files. They stay on your device until you uninstall the game.

If you have turned on your device's own backups (such as iCloud Backup or Google's Android backup), your device may include these files in those backups. That is handled by Apple or Google under their privacy policies, and we cannot see it.

Playing together on the same Wi-Fi (local co-op)

When you choose to host or join a party, your device talks directly to the other players' devices on the same local Wi-Fi network. No server is involved and nothing is sent to us. During the session the game sends:

While you host a party, your device also announces it on the local network so your friends can find it. That announcement contains your adventurer name, the number of players and the current map, and other devices on the same Wi-Fi network can see it. Your device's local network address is shown on the Party screen so friends can join by typing it. Tip: you do not have to use your real name as your adventurer name.

The other devices keep this information only in memory while you play together. The game never saves other players' information. Videos are not available during co-op.

Optional videos at the mailbox (Google AdMob)

At the mailbox in the hub town you can watch a short video to get a gift. Nothing in the game forces you to: there are no banners and no videos that start by themselves. The videos come from Google AdMob, provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) for users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and by Google LLC elsewhere.

When the game talks to Google. When you enter the hub town, the game asks Google's consent tool (the User Messaging Platform) whether your region needs a consent question, and shows Google's consent form if it does (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and an opt-out notice in some US states). Only after that does the game start Google's ad software and load a video; it is shown only when you tap "Watch". Before you first enter the hub town, the game does not contact Google at all.

What Google's software processes on your device and receives:

What it is used for: to deliver the video, to count views and rewards, to limit how often you see the same ad, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to measure ad performance. Personalised ads only with your consent (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; elsewhere according to your device's ad settings). Without consent Google shows non-personalised or limited ads, or none.

Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; for storing and reading information on your device § 25(1) TDDDG in Germany) for personalised ads and for storing or reading identifiers on your device; our legitimate interest in financing the free game (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for limited ads that do not use such information. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time: Settings > Privacy > Privacy choices in the game reopens Google's form. On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on the phone).

Google processes this data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, and may transfer it to the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More: Google's privacy policy https://policies.google.com/privacy and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We do not receive any of this data about you; AdMob only gives us totals (such as views and earnings per day and country).

The game asks Google only for ads suitable for a general audience (at most "PG").

Moon Pearl purchases (Apple App Store, Google Play)

You can buy packs of Moon Pearls, the Shop's currency, with real money. Pearls only buy looks. The purchase itself, including your payment details, your account and the receipt, is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their terms and privacy policies. We never see your name, e-mail address or payment details.

The game uses Unity's in-app purchasing library (Unity IAP) on your device to talk to the store; we have not switched on Unity's online services for it, and the game sends no purchase data to us or to Unity's servers. When a purchase succeeds, the store tells the game on your device which pack you bought and a transaction number; the game adds the pearls to the file on your device and then confirms the purchase to the store. From the stores we receive only sales reports (for example how many packs were sold in which country) and payouts, which we need for our accounting and taxes.

Refunds go through Apple or Google. Pearls and owned looks are stored only on your device: uninstalling the game without a device backup deletes them, and the stores cannot "restore" pearls. If something went wrong with a purchase, contact us with the date and the store's order number.

Permissions

The game does not use your location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files outside its own storage. On iPhone and iPad it never shows the "Allow to track" question.

Who receives data

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we have no server that collects any. The links in the game ("Read the full policy" and Google's consent form) open in your device's web browser or in Google's form.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13, and it is not part of programs for children's apps. We ask Google only for ads suitable for a general audience. If you are a parent and believe that your child under 13 has used the videos, you can reset the advertising ID on the device and contact us.

Your rights

We do not store personal data about you on any server, so for the data on your device you are in control: you can delete everything the game stored by uninstalling it. For the data Google processes for the videos, use Settings > Privacy > Privacy choices and Google's own tools (https://myadcenter.google.com); Google's privacy policy explains your rights towards Google. If you live in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to complain to a data protection authority. You can always contact us with privacy questions.

Changes to this policy

If the game changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.

Datenschutzerklärung: Escape From Darkon

Stand: 13.10.2026
